چکیده

For estimating the variance of nonlinear statistics like regression and correlation coefficients in stratified sampling designs, the Balanced Repeated Replication (BRR) method has received special attention, although other procedures like linearization (Taylor’s series expansion method), Jackknife repeated replications and the Bootstrap method are also available in the literature. BRR method involves in forming replication by choosing one of the units selected from each stratum to form a replication. Each of the replications provides an estimate of the nonlinear statistic. The procedure is repeated many times to get more stable estimator.

1984: a Comparison of Variance Estimators Using the Taylor Series Approximation

The selection of a variance estimator for large complex sample surveys is not straightforward. Most of the methods of variance estimstion for such surveys are b~sed upon some form of repeated subsampling. The random group, jackknife and balanced repeated replication methods differ primarily in the procedures for forming the subsamples. Previous comparative studies have been primarily empirical....

Comparison of Variance Estimation Methods Using PPI Data

The Producer Price Index (PPI) collects price data from domestic producers of commodities and publishes monthly indexes on average price changes received by those producers at all stages of processing. PPI samples employ a two-stage design where establishments are selected in the first stage and unique items are selected in the second stage. In this paper we review the research results from the...

Post - Stratification and Conditional Variance Estimation Richard Valliant

Post-stratification estimation is a technique used in sample surveys to improve efficiency of estimators. Survey weights are adjusted to force the estimated numbers of units in each of a set of estimation cells to be equal to known population totals. The resulting weights are then used in forming estimates of means or totals of variables collected in the survey. For example, in a household surv...

Balanced Repeated Replication for Stratified Multistage Survey Data under Imputation

Balanced repeated replication (BRR) is a popular method for variance estimation in surveys. The standard BRR method works by rst creating a set of \balanced" pseudo-replicated data sets from the original data set. For a survey estimator ^ , the BRR variance estimator is the average of squared deviations ^ (r) ? ^ , where ^ (r) is the same as ^ but based on the data in the rth pseudo-replicated ...

Variance Estimation in the Presence of Imputation for Missing Data

Item nonresponse is usually treated by some form of deterministic or random imputation. We focus on deterministic imputation; in particular, ratio and nearest neighbour imputations commonly used in establishment surveys. Frequentist inference from imputed data is based on a repeated sampling framework and assumed response mechanism. On the other hand, use of imputation models requires only that...
